The Lumetrica Consultation Programme
Decoration decisions are rarely straightforward. Materials behave differently under different conditions, and what photographs beautifully can look flat in person. This programme exists for people who want to work through those specifics with someone who has already made the mistakes.
Sessions are structured around your actual objects and circumstances - not a generic curriculum. Outcomes depend on the work you put in between sessions.
Phase 01
Object Assessment
Before any decoration decisions are made, the object itself needs to be understood. We look at surface porosity, existing finishes, structural integrity, and how the piece will be used. This phase often changes the plan significantly.
60-min sessionPhase 02
Technique Selection
With the object understood, we match techniques to it - not the other way around. This includes material sourcing specific to the Australian market, where certain pigments and adhesives behave differently in high-humidity coastal conditions like Maroubra.
45-min sessionPhase 03
Guided Application
You work on the piece between sessions and bring back results, photos, or specific questions. This is where most of the learning happens - in the doing, not the listening. Sessions focus on what actually went wrong or unexpectedly right.
3 × 45-min sessionsPhase 04
Review and Documentation
A written record of what was used, what worked, and what to avoid next time. This becomes a reference document for future projects - because most people who decorate one object eventually want to decorate another.
Written summary includedThe people you'll work with
Two consultants with different backgrounds, both with direct experience in object and accessory decoration for residential and commercial clients across NSW.
Declan Ó Briain
Senior Decoration Consultant
Declan spent eight years working in bespoke furniture restoration before moving into consultation in 2023. He is particularly useful when the object has an existing finish that complicates what can be applied on top of it.
Nadia Wierzbicka
Accessory Decoration Specialist
Nadia trained in Warsaw and relocated to Sydney, where she found the local climate created challenges she hadn't encountered before. That experience now informs how she advises clients working in coastal and high-humidity environments.
Realistic expectations
These are the things most clients leave with. They're not guarantees - they depend on the object, the starting point, and the effort between sessions.
A documented process you can repeat
Not just a finished piece, but a record of what was done and why - so the next project doesn't start from scratch.
Specific material recommendations
Brands and suppliers that are actually available in Australia, not sourced from tutorials filmed in different climates.
Clarity on what won't work
Sometimes the most useful outcome is knowing which techniques to avoid for your specific object and conditions.
Before you apply
The programme works best when you already have a specific object in mind and at least some idea of what you want to do with it. It's not suited to complete beginners who haven't yet decided on a direction.
Sessions are conducted remotely via video call. You'll need to be able to show the object clearly on camera and photograph it in natural light before the first session.
